It’s Day 26 and today I’m looking at the power of words and how important it is to use them wisely and carefully. Why you may ask? The wrong or right words that we speak have the power to create good or bad, life or death. It’s a choice.
The most powerful words that were probably ever spoken were “Let there be light”. What was the result? There was light. From the beginning of time it’s proven and tested that the creative power of words are crucial to determining our ultimate results.
If you still have some doubts, why don’t you do the ‘Words Have Power Test’ and experience the results for yourself. When you wake up in the morning, sit up in bed and for at least half of an hour and begin to repeat all the positive things you can think of to say about yourself, your health, your family, your career or business, your relationships, your circumstances and the world around you. After 10 minutes, stop for a second and evaluate your emotional state. If you continue for the rest of the time or even go for an hour, at the end of it you’ll feel explosive joy within and your outlook on all of the things you spoke about will be tremendously different. Try it for yourself. It’s a no brainer.
Needless to say if it works for the positive things, it in turn works for the negative things so I’m not going to tell you to try speaking all of the negative things about yourself to test it out. But this one’s like the law of gravity; what goes up must come down. You don’t try to find out if the law of gravity works do you? You just know if you climb up a 50 foot flight of stairs you’ll get to the top. Equally if you jump off a building from that same height there’s going to be a fairly hard bang on the way down as a result of testing the law of gravity.
Additionally, the tongue is a pretty unruly entity in itself. It’s like a match being lit in the middle of a dry and parched cornfield. Before you know it, it’s wildfire. Have you ever noticed when we say something to someone in anger or rage, how hard it is to take the words back? No matter how we try and repair what we’ve said, the words have already been spoken and produced the negative responses in the person we said them to. The minute those words come out of our mouths they become live and active and the damage has already been done.
So as you move forward in this challenge and work toward attaining your goals it’s important to watch over the door of you mouth. You need to make a conscious effort to think about what you say, before you say it. When you confess the good and right things about others, you, your life, what you want to be and do; those words will affect your thought and eventually your thought will affect your behaviour. You’ll find yourself doing the things you’ve said.
And besides all of that it takes far less emotional energy to confess the positive than it does the negative. There’s now so much scientific research to show the results of people who complain and hold bad emotions, compared to those who speak positively and forgive quickly.
So my challenge for you today is to save and restore your energy with the right speech. Get creative and start to speak what you want to see. Death and life are in the power of your tongue. Choose LIFE!
See you tomorrow.
