There is Life After Redundancy

Redundancy

As I sat there a few years ago picking up the pieces of a redundancy, it dawned on me; if I could work so hard for another company and give so much loyalty for them to meet their targets and still be laid off, why on earth couldn’t I just channel all of that energy into working for myself? Surely, at least one benefit would be that I couldn’t fire myself!

Being made redundant can be daunting Continue reading

Day 27 – 50 Day Change Challenge – Time to Declutter

50 Day Challenge

It’s Day 27 of the Change Challenge and today I’m looking at DECLUTTERING your life! What do I mean by this? It’s simple, sometimes we are trying really hard to get to another stage in our lives, reach and accomplish new goals but we have so much ancient baggage left hanging around that holds us back.

Today’s post is simple. It’s time for a clean up. You’re entering

Day 20 – 50 Day Change Challenge – Get to the Finish Line

50DayChallenge

Can you believe it’s day 20 of your Change Challenge already. Isn’t it amazing when you start a new project or long awaited life change that the time flies by so quickly? That’s why today’s topic is so important. Finishing!

Lack of finishing is probably the biggest defeater of dreams. The inability to see it through to the end is that silent monster called abortion, that lurks in the wings just waiting to slap the “Don’t bother to complete it” at you. Why is the monster silent? Because it seems to wait until you’ve gotten to the near end and just about to reach the finish line to start defeating you with improbability, doubt, fear and discouragement.

Day 17 – 50 Day Change Challenge – Priorities

50DayChallenge

So on day 17 I’m looking at what’s really important. I’m always amazed at my 9 year old daughter’s game plan. At the beginning of the year she’s all fired up about saving money so she can buy her Christmas presents.

By the time summer comes around and she’s gazed on all the girly summer fashions, she’s forgotten all about what she set out to do for Christmas and has gotten sidetracked with the now instead of the future. She wants to take all that she’s saved and be gratified immediately. It’s clear to see at this stage that Continue reading

Day 15 – 50 Day Change Challenge – A Friend Called Failure!

50DayChallenge
It’s day 15 already. WELL DONE! You’re nearly a third of the way to instilling some new mindsets, habits and behaviours and kicking some old and unwanted ones.

There’s one topic that I have to touch on if we’re going to talk about growth, change and success. It’s a word that should by now be our friend but we often see it as our foe and that’s the word FAILURE.

I once heard a mentor of mine say “If you have a big pot of success, the first ingredient to go in needs to be failure”. Wow, what a great visual. This further helped me to understand that whatever new or on going project or life change we’re undertaking, amidst the success of our financial forecast, the fool proof business plan and our justifications of why success is the only outcome, we must factor in room to fail.

Why? Because with failure we:

Day 14 – 50 Day Change Challenge – Consistency

50DayChallenge
I’m beginning to believe that it’s human nature to get bored.

I listen to my children when they have a few minutes downtime and I can bet my bottom dollar that the word boredom will come up in the conversation somewhere.

Let’s face it, with our busy lifestyles we’re just used to packing an activity into every single waking minute. With today’s fast pace lifestyle attention span on any particular activity is limited.

As a Global society we’ve grown more and more adverse to long term programs that reap sustainable benefits, we now want it quick fried and microwaved.

This is why Continue reading
